Subject: Infinit frothing during long runs
Has anyone else had a problem with their Infinit run mix frothing during their long runs? I recently switched from running with a fuel belt to flasks in pockets on the leg of my shorts for IMTX training. The flasks are working well except the constant movement is making the Infinit frothy. I've never had a problem with burping a lot during a run until switching over to the flask system. I'm afraid over the course of the IM run this may cause GI problems. The fuel belt adds extra heat/weight that I don't want for this race.

Ideas? Solutions?

Do you have any protein in your run mix? If so, depending on how long Infinit takes to deliver, you could try a mix with no protein. From what I've experienced and heard about Infinit, the protein is what leads to the frothing issues.

Call Infinit and see if they have an idea why and perhaps a solution.

The run mix doesn't have any protein in it.
It doesn't seem to froth as much when the solution is highly concentrated. My preferred nutrition strategy for the run uses a less concentrated mix- 1 scoop per flask instead of 2 scoops. It's getting a little late in the game to switch over to a more concentrated strategy. In the past I've had problems with using the highly concentrated mix on the run only.

My infinit run mix is formulated to taste like a salty margarita on the rocks!

I'll give Infinit a call.

Do you mix it immediately before the run?
Maybe try mixing it the day or night before to let things "settle" a bit. I noticed the froth factor in mine was a lot less when mixed the night before, but that was on the bike (not the run).

x2

Mix up a batch ahead of time. I noticed that they tend to stay good for a long while if you keep them in the refrigerator.

It's the protein according to the website.

Mine froths up too.  annoying.  I'll try mixing the night before though, didn't think of that.

Should be safe since there are no egg products but once before a 70.3 I mixed the stuff I had then (I forget what it was) the night before and was soooo sick on the run.

Turns out it had spoiled being out over night (well, in a hotel ice bucket, but the ice melted over night and it did not stay too cold).  It did not say that ANYWHERE on the box and I had another friend with the same problem.
