May goals:

Swim - 30,000 + yards

Bike - 500+ miles

Run - 50+ miles

However these are rough guess as I'll do as my coach tells me too, except perhaps throwing in an extra swim or two! Travel the next month might cause a problem but time will tell! I also do not have any races so no goals there...

April was an "offseason" month for me...

May will not get off so lucky.

ST: 12+ hours

Bike: 500+ miles and conduct 1 or 2 TTs to see where I'm at

Run: 125 miles with 4 Races and a goal to set a new PR during one of the 5Ks

And the hardest goal: eat better, lean up more, get stronger

Dang you are some volume grabbers. I have one race in May, knox REv3 half and the rest is my final build month for IMCDA.

1. Shoot for 220, 800, and 30k but recognize that race and recovery time may affect totals.

2. Try to keep uninjured.

3. Have a good race in Knox with good defined by me and Shanks.

4. Keep cheering Ga Triathletes on!

Break the century mark for the run. It is time that it happens. I am going to drop the bike volume a little this month and focus on intervals while the swim volume is going to get cranked up...

Run = 100 miles
Bike = 350 miles
Swim = 30,000 yards

May Goals:

Swim: 30,000 yards

Bike: 400 miles

Run: Again. Yep, hoping May is the month they will let me run.

Races:

1- Gulf Coast. Swim without puking.  Goal: 44 minutes.  Bike: 3 hours.

2- REV3: same goals as Gulf Coast.  At least I know I won't puke in a river, right?

Swim - 2x per week.  OOPS!  Already screwed this up!

Bike - 3x per week (or more if Doug thinks so)

Run - as much as scheduling will allow

Races:  Rev 3 Knoxville - My plan is to go medium on the swim, "La-Dee-Da" pace on the bike and as fast as possible on the run.  My bike fitness is not good enough to kill it, so I'll save it for the run and try to pass the people who ate the paste.

I'm hesitant to post goals again - in January I did and ended up injured in Feb/Mar.  So, my goal for May is to stick to my training plan (swapping days during week due to work is ok) and not miss any workouts each week.  Which means 3 swims, 3 bikes and 3 runs per week.

Beast of the East goal is to survive the swim, survive the bike, and survive the run.  Just to finish at this point, I'll be happy with that.

well done Shanks! Nice to have a coach that talks the talk and walks the walk.

Here are the Slayer's:

May's totals:
Bike:44h 36m 23s  - 852.73 Mi
Run:27h 51m 18s  - 205.3 Mi
Swim:15h 01m 41s  - 44312 Yd

Goals were 800, 220, 40,000 so I was short on the run but fine elsewhere. My long run got shifted to Wed. due to Memorial day so I could've easily came a bit closer. Overall a solid final build month considering I raced and had a decent day there (another goal). Finally, I've not injured myself and kept the cheering section going where I could for Ga triathletes!

Well, I didn't do so well.

May's totals:
Bike:22h 32m 49s  - 333.16 Mi
Run:10h 19m 38s  - 67.19 Mi
Swim:7h 01m 43s  - 21633 Yd

My totals are all way below this time last year.  Last May was over 500 miles on the bike, 111 on the run and more swimming.  I could blame it on the race or the ridiculous heat thing, but really, I just didn't suck it up.  Not good.  Must do a better job in June.
