Quick video...I probably need to take it from further away... we're all in a hurry here today.

Would appreciate some feedback.

At that angle it's hard to say.

I agree -- very hard to make anything out of that video.  Try from slightly further away, and straight (90 degrees) to the bike.  A front shot is also helpful.

At the risk of a hijack...

What is the proper way to film a bike fit check?

Parallel to the top tube? Perpendicular to the top tube? How high/low? How long should the video be? I assume just pedaling right? Standing as well? Would there be any sort of references you could put in the shot to assist? A yard stick maybe? Or totally not needed?

trotpntbll - 2011-05-03 7:10 AM Hard to tell but your seat looks low. Without it being further back, can't see your back and what angle that may be.

x2.. and you might need to move the saddle forward, looks like your knee is too far behind the center of the pedal but again, hard to tell from that angle.

Round 2..... definitely better than the first. Front-on shot is playing horizontal but so be it.

Have at it !

Ok, I've read the thread about bike fit requests and I understand. If you feel qualified to comment, I would still appreciate some feedback on the SECOND video.

Is that your racing position? If so, I would suggest that you work to lower your profile when riding both the hoods and drops (assuming you are not drafting in your races).

For example:

Shane is spot on (a bit silly of me to say, as he knows more than I do).  My advice: don't worry about details right now.  Look at the pics that Shane posted and think about emulating them in whatever fashion you think feasible.  Pretty much any change you make in that direction is very likely to be an improvement.  After you've worked on that a while, maybe think about getting some personalized advice (e.g., professional fit).

I'm serious.  I personally doubt that specific advice (such as 'lower your seat by Xmm or extend your reach by Ymm) is not the way to go, here.  Just try to emulate those riders and see where it takes you.  Think carefully about what is preventing you from looking like them, and work on that.

Your fit needs more work than any forum comment can provide. If you can afford a cervelo, pay a pro to spend an hour with you and get it fit.

I'd guess that a fiter would start by moving your seat up and forward, but that is just my best guess.
