Comments: Race had the mile markers all off, 1st mile was marked at 10 minutes 30 sec on my watch (which seemed way off the pace I'm training at). 2nd marker at 16 minutes something, 3rd mile around 23-24minutes. After the 1st mile market I felt really good, felt like I pushed a little harder as I knew I was getting closer to the end and did a good job of pacing myself in the beginning and not starting too fast. What would you do differently?: Truthfully not too much for a 5K, I might train a little further since this was the 1st time all year I've ran 5K, with some more training I could probably be a bit faster. Will probably look into some true glide or similar to help with the chafing for future events. Post race
Warm down: Had some water and did some stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough training distance yet. Event comments: Good organization, started on time, plenty of food/drink post race. They could have used a few more people handing out drinks on the course (not really an issue since I didn't need any). Had all the local streets blocked off and police presence. Would have given a 5 if they had chip timing rather than tear offs and if they had the mile markers in the right place. Last updated: 2011-04-18 12:00 AM
