Is the difference between the Vortex and Vector Pro worth the additional $85 or so?  I can get the Vortex for $189, and the Vector Pro for $275.

The Vortex in my size won't ship until June 22, the Vector Pro will ship immediately.  I don't necessarily NEED a wetsuit right now, although it would make the two tris I have planned in the next 3 weeks a bit more comfortable.  (Ohio, spring, lots of rain = colder lakes and reservoirs).  However, if it the quality/construction difference is worth the extra money, it'd be a nice bonus to be able to get it sooner too.

I have a Vortex and easily would pay $85 for extra shoulder flexibilty.  Only thing is I've never tried a Vector Pro to know if it actually has it or just advertising.  The other thing I'll add is that if it is for olympic or sprint save your money and get the Vector.

My A race this year is a HIM, and I'd like to do more OWS events in the future, having a good swimming background.  Most of my races will probably still be Olympic distance though.

I just got the vector pro x3, newer model of the pro x2 and i love it, great fit EXCELLENT mobility arounds shoulders, there is no resriction at all!!! can move my arms in full rotation. Feels like there is nothing around my arms. Would definately go for the pro x3.

Great post and I was wondering the same thing.  I would like to see the responses also.

It sounds like the question is, in part, is the added comfort in the next 2 tris worth part of that $85.  Tongue out

FWIW - I received my Vortex 4 (full) a few weeks back and have been very happy with it.  While I have seen some posts about range of motion issues with full suits, I find the Vortex to be very comfortable despite having a 20 year old shoulder injury.

Disclaimer - I opted for a Large despite being 8 lbs into the XL weight range and couldn't be happier.

Update:

Went ahead and got the Vector Pro, the new model is the Vector Pro 3, beats me if it's any different from the 2, but I got the 3.

Squeezed myself into it without TOO much trouble, although I did work up a bit of a sweat doing so in the upstairs bedroom.  Feels very comfortable.  Got the XL at 5'11" 230, and I think it will work great, and probably be good even if I manage to lose another 15-20 pounds.  Hope to test it in the water on Saturday.

For anyone that cares, got the wetsuit wet this morning in some very cold lake water here in west central Ohio.  Felt very comfortable the entire time, and not the least bit cold.  I did have a little issue with lifting my head forward to spot sometimes, where it felt like the suit was making it hard to bend my neck that direction, and just a little rubbing on the neck, but nothing too hateful.  Very happy with the purchase.

Hey apicek, did you have trouble lifting your head because of the buoyancy? If not, how was it as far as buoyancy? did it lift you up easily?  I have the same suit, going to try it out this weekend at the North East river.

Buoyancy was awesome.  I could tread water with almost no effort, and floating on my back required no thinking at all.  When swimming, my legs were definitely right on top of the water.  I was surprised to notice that much of a difference in the legs, since I'm generally well-positioned in the water to begin with.

I think the trouble lifting my head had more to do with however I secured the neck.  I may not have done it perfectly, so it felt like it was bunching up on my neck when I lifted my head forward.  If I had better goggles, I wouldn't need to make that move so often.

I bought a Vector Pro 3 recently, too. In my first practice I felt a similar neck issue to the one that apicek mentions, but I used it today in a race, and had no problems at all. The buoyancy and range of motion were both excellent. A little bodyglide on the neck beforehand may have helped. I have no point of comparison with the Vortex, but I'm quite happy with this purchase.
