Subject: Top 5 Things I learned in my First USAT Tri

This was my 2nd sprint tri, but my first OWS and USAT sanctioned event.

Top 5 things I learned.

1. Wearing a tshirt that says DOUGHBOY makes people smile and cheer for you.

2. I should change my name to "ON YOUR LEFT."

3. A pool swim compares to a cold choppy bay swim, about the way a shower at home compares to going through a car wash in an earthquake.

4. Triathletes are so cool, you can borrow socks if you can't find yours. (Fellow BT.com poster!)

5. Addiction is definitely the right word for going through something physically punishing, and immediately thinking "when can I do this again?"

The Annapolis TriRock is a spinoff of the Rock&Roll Marathon series, run by Competitor Group, and they had video coverage right here: http://triathlon.competitor.com/2011/05/features/tricenter-update-r... -- I'm at 1:54, 2:33, and talking at 5:12.

Without this forum, I wouldn't have done either of these sprints at all. Now I'm training for an olympic in 5-6 months. Thanks to all you awesome people.

Very funny!  I'm in the barrel for my first Tri this Saturday.  It will also be my first OWS and my first swim or bike race of any kind!  If I can make it to the run I may recapture a bit of pride before I drive home Smile...  I can't wait!
