Veteran  220  Hudsonville, MI |  Subject: Hawk Island TriMy wife and I are racing in the Hawk Island Tri for the first time this year and I had a couple of questions for those of you who have done it before. How are the bike and run courses as far as hills and turns? I also heard that the bike course is full of potholes and can be a rough ride if you are not careful, is this true? Thanks and looking forward to racing, I heard it is a great race. Jason

Extreme Veteran 446 Mason | Subject: RE: Hawk Island Tri Hi Jason. If you asked me last year about the bike course I would have had to say that a portion of Mt. Hope is the worst section of road I have driven or ridden on. That has since been repaved. Overall the bike course is quite smooth now and with few hills. The run course is on the beautiful rivertrail in Hawk Island Park. I have helped with setup and participated in the Triathlon 2 of the last 3 years. It is a very beginner friendly event and very well organized. I am just beginning to bike and run after foot surgery and will not be participating in this event but would be happy to help organize a group bike/run brick the weekend before the triathlon if you are interested. Veteran 128 | Subject: RE: Hawk Island Tri A lot can change in a week but right now looking at the 10 day forecast they are calling for partly sunny, 9 mph winds and a high of 79 degrees for Sunday June 5. If that holds I would expect temps in the mid 60's in the morning for race time which would be very nice! |
