Pre-race routine:

Nothing special really. Had my Bagel, drank some Gatorade, peed a lot. Did some stretching and BSing.
Event warmup:

Got in the cold ass water and swam a little before hand. Technically, this was my OWS practice.
Swim
  • 10m 57s
  • 500 yards
  • 02m 11s / 100 yards
Comments:

OMG, I wish I had had an oppurtunity to do an OWS first. What an eye opener. I beat my goal time by about 2 minutes and I have no idea how. Short course maybe? I couldn't get into any rhythm, the cold had my breathing all sorts of jacked up and I was basically breathing every stroke. I know what to expect now though!
What would you do differently?:

PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!!
Transition 1
  • 02m 58s
Comments:

Not horrible for my first one. Had to sit down to put my socks on though.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, smooth it out a bit I suppose
Bike
  • 43m 3s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 17.32 mile/hr
Comments:

Not a bad bike leg, I was about 8 minutes behind what I wanted to do. Time to spend more time on the bike I guess.
What would you do differently?:

More time in the seat
Transition 2
  • 01m 57s
Comments:

Same thing, nothing dramatic.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really. I did run the wrong way out of transition.
Run
  • 25m 52s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

Crushed this run, for me anyway. PR for my 5k by almost a minute.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. This was a good run for me. I was prettry sure I went a little strong on the bike.
Post race
Warm down:

Stayed on my feet

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Conditioning, I don't feel like I left anything on the table though. Having got through this one, I can go faster next time.

Event comments:

I'd do it again. It was a good time overall. They gave out some nice medals and had a decent schwag bag.

Good job Corey!   I'm in the same boat as you being my first Tri and know what I need to work on now.    After completing my first Tri can't wait until my next tri event.

Thank you guys! I hate to admit, but I may have caught the bug that day. We'll see after the Tinman.
