brielle cyclery is a very nice shop in the area, and has a good selection of Tri specific gear. I picked up my tri shoes there and the guy that helped me was very friendly and knowledgeable, and a fellow triathlete.  I don't know if i can say much about their prices, I really was only there for the shoes which were priced about right.  What shops did you try?

Did the other store actually have it cheaper?

If a customer just walks in and says that another store has something cheaper, I am inclined to let them go to the other store. Not all customers are worth having. Now, if someone has spent the time to develop a relationship with me and then says they saw something for less elsewhere, I'll see what I can do.

I may be wrong, but I'd rather have loyal customers than a bunch of people who only care about getting the cheapest price and don't want to develop a relationship. Getting beat up over price on every transaction gets old.

I agree 100% i got my old road bike to get tuned up and he basically almost took advantage of me but i didn't let it happen,  why would i put $350 in a $100 bike? without labor cost which would be $200 or a lil more.. Just doesn't make sense to me at all.     plus when i ask him a question or challenge him on something simple he gets mad and tries to go around the bush. SO price is not really a problem with me ,its more of the serves behind the price.

You will have to look really hard and far to find a shop with better service.  Prices that are inline with best of the area; but it really comes down to service and knowledge of the products they have in my opinion the best in NJ.

Hi,

I bought my rig (but they sell wetsuits too and there is an adjacent swim store) from Cycles 54 in Wall.  Had a very good experience.  Email contact with the owner (Christian) before I even walked into the store.  We emailed about my size, what I was looking for, and my price range.  He said he would have a few setups built in my size for me to try when I came in.

Bought my bike there and then we did a fitting session.

More than a year later, once I got settled in my position, I emailed him about doing a fork cut down and he did it for free for me.  I have since visited the shop several times.

Cheers, hope it helps.
