Pre-race routine:

woke up. had breakfast. packed car. Grabbed coffee and met my teammate at her house. Drove to race. set-up transition area. Went to pre-race meeting. Stretched.went to start.
Event warmup:

none
Swim
  • 57m 3s
  • 0 yards
  • / 100 yards
Comments:

this sucked plus I either got bit or stung by something on the way to the kayak and it hurt so much
What would you do differently?:

nothing.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

forgot to check time for transitions. ended up changing shorts and shoes due to mud.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 2h 16m 46s
  • 10 miles
  • 4.39 mile/hr
Comments:

not too bad but map was small and it was hard to read where some of the trailheads were
What would you do differently?:

bandaids on heels preventatively to protect heels when walking with bike.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

this transition was a little long to change shoes and grab a bite to eat. oh yeah and figure out where the heck we were going.
What would you do differently?:

have looked at map prior to race and figurte out course from T2
Run
  • 1h 50m 5s
  • 3 miles
  • 36m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

boy looking at the time for a mile looks deceivingly crazy and slow but when orienteering through the woods for a checkpoint that is on a knoll or overlook can be tricky. watch out for bushes they can cut up the legs. twisted L ankle at one point which hurt at the time.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Post race
Warm down:

stretch, water, food

What limited your ability to perform faster:

heat, injury, terrain

Event comments:

race was good. legs weren't as bad (ie cut up and bruised) as last year but are pretty sore from where pedals and trees/branches hit them. Race was much better this year with a novice and elite division. We went novice and are happy for it.

Thanks for the race report.  We were thinking of doing one of these and this gives me an idea of what it'd be like.  :-)

Gee... Sounds like fun. LOL!

Seriously, it really does sound like fun. Maybe I'll try one after getting some MTB miles in over the winter.

Thanks for the report!

See you in a couple hrs. Uh... actually an hr.
