Pre-race routine:

Woke up and ate cereal with a banana, coffee, and an english muffin with peanut butter. Since the start time was anywhere between 6:30am-10am, we weren't in a huge rush to get out the door.
Event warmup:

Brad, Craig, Amy and I met up with Ron, Karolyn and her friend, Gary. After checking in, we were off.

Comments:

Route was well marked and cue sheet was fairly easy to read. There were plenty of rest stations with water, gatorade, ice, bread with peanut butter and jelly, and some fruit.
I think I should have drank more water versus GU2O/Gatorate. I felt a little nauseous and I am thinking it was from that. I had a stitch in my side and neck for about the last 20 miles so I wasn't riding as hard as I could have. My legs felt pretty good once I was finished.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more water versus GU2O/Gatorate.
Post race
Warm down:

Ate some food as we waited for Craig and Brad.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Side stitch.

Event comments:

I would do this ride again next year. It was great that there was a bunch of us riding together...it made it more fun!

Course: When signing up for the ride (not a race), you could choose the century, metric century, or metric 1/2 century. Most of us did the metric century (Brad and Craig did the full century). We were given maps and cue sheets prior. Ride started at the Reston Town Center and snaked through Reston, Herndon and Sterling before picking up the W&OD briefly. We then headed through Ashburn, Leesburg, Hamilton, Purcellville, and Waterford and then back through Leesburg towards Reston. Some trail riding on W&OD, but mostly on the roads.
