Subject: When you meet BT'ers in real life...

So, at my race on Saturday, Peachtree City Tri, Karl (motivated) came and found me as I was setting up. We had some chit-chat, and then he left. I've met him before, he was trying to look for other BT'ers too.

Went to swim start, did a warmup, and was waiting for the start. I was with my swim cap color group and 2 guys in front of me were talking about a race in Florida. I happen to be doing Great Floridian too, so I ask one of the guys where he is staying, etc. I think one of them looks familiar, so I then introduce myself, "Hi, I'm Haley." One responds "I'm James, nice to meet youuuuu....wait....did you say, haley, as in...?!" I said yes, and the look of recognition comes across his face, followed by shock...don't know why, but the look was CLASSIC, and I started laughing.

Priceless. Maybe he was shocked I wasn't drinking or in a diaper or something. Who knows.

It was nice to meet you too James.

Anyone else have a funny story about meeting your "friends" in real life?

I've met Leah (DrLeah), Laura (misscullen), Carolyn (cbass), Scott (rumpo), Dan (Crazypop), Rob (robcan) and Danielle (dancan) - listed in the order that I met them. Everyone that I met has been really nice. BT is a fantastic group. I train with Leah, Laura and Scott pretty regularly now, but Carolyn and Dan live further away. Rob and Danielle are Laura's brother and sister in law, so we'll probably get in more training together.

Have I shocked anyone? I don't think so.

Not funny but humbling. Everyone else I have met from here is more in shape, faster and younger than me. Makes me work a whole lot harder. Also everyone I have met has been a real standup person! Just super nice and welcoming.

I'm scared to ask, why shock?

My overwhelming beauty? The fact I wasn't drunk?

Funny thing is, he was brought on the island after the "incident" at the race on Saturday. I had immediately called up Runnergirl so we could laugh about the chance meeting/shock and she said, "Ok, now he has to be written into the soap!"

LOL!!!!

Ok-  I have a good story about this.  So I'm at the VA Beach RNR 1/2 marathon expo, and my friend introduces her cousin  to all of us.  The first thing he says is that I look familiar.  I'm thinking, hmm...not sure where you could know me.  Then he asks me if I do tri's and I tell him yes. I tell him, have I racked my bike nest to yours at a tri??  Still, very confused on why I look familiar to him.  Then he asks me if I'm on BT- I just laugh.  He tells me I look just like my avatar.  My old one of course- not the one with the large man in the speedo in ballet shoes.  Talk about being a small world!  wyecrab is cousins with my friends- how funny is that?  We ended up hanging out with his family while we were there.  I had no idea my friend's cousin was on BT!!

I'm just wondering how I'm going to recognize all the BT'rs at Pineman...we should all take pictures in full-on start gear (swim suits, goggles, cap, wet suit) to make it easier. Either that or write "I"M ON BT! " on our numbers. I'll be easy to recognize...the girl in the bright pink swim suit with the flamingo cycling socks. Red Raleigh.

ETA: allthough I think we'd all probably recognize eachother by bike before face...and remember the bike's good Christian name

It was hard finding BT'ers after the race.  I didn't meet any.  Any Bt'ers I met was before the race, some on accident like the one above- lol!  What might work is someone to have a sign so you can all meet up after the race.

I keep thinking we need like an arm-band or a temp tattoo, like they sometimes hand out in the race bags.

At Cranberry, many of us marked BT on our calves with black marker. You can bring your own or the body markers might do it.

I met Domlazz and didn't even know it. He and I were racing a small local race and were chit chatting the whole time during the run. Didn't realize who he was until I posted my race report and he left some comments. Doht!

Have a spectator hold up a sign with "BT.com" on it.  Max did it at Danskin.  It's how all the BT women there got together.

Heard they actually set up a tent with multiple BT signs at Cranberry, in addition to the BT markings on their bodies as Max mentioned.

Brought a BT sign to Boston last Sunday, but had no where to put.  I lean it against a wall at the TA but someone turned it backward.  I recognized Amiine just because I've met him before, and his bike is almost right opposit mine.
