which style bend do you prefer, and why?

If you had any soreness or discomfort with a certain style, did you try to give it more time?

Are there any advantages or disadvantages to one style over the other, or is it simply a personal preference?

Had S, hated it on my wrists for more than an hour. Switched to ski bends, very happy. Both have their "I'm most aero" camps.

I believe there's been some data that says J-bend extensions are more aero.  I'm not sure the difference is significant though.

Personally I'm using S-bends.  I took me a bit of time to get used to them, but I tried J-bends and really hated them.  For hard efforts I really feel like I get more leverage with the s-bends and overall have more wrist comfort.  My wife will only use J-bends, so to each their own.

J-bends for me cause that's what was initially on my bike.  I like them from the fact that I have a neutral position of the wrist instead of having to stretch it for the s-bend.  Plus for me, when I am doing shorter climbs and staying on the bars, I find it easy to have leverage with the arms, otherwise I'm not really holding on, more just resting the hands anyway.

As far as aero, I'm not too concerned about the position of my hand/wrist so really could care less if S or J is more aero given that the drag from my body is so much greater.

I had S bends stock with my tri bike for several seasons.  On the longer training rides (>2 hours) and races (HIM, IM distance) my wrists were uncomfortable.  I decided to re-do my cockpit this year and switched to ski bends.

Huge comfort improvement.  It's just a far more natural position for wrists.  Now I wish I'd switched to ski bends years ago.

I like s-bends, but it's whatever is comfortable for you. S-bends are nice because you can slide back and forth in your cockpit. J-bends are a bit more restrictive, but the wrist position is more neutral.

My opinion is if your wrists are OK, use the s-bends for the additional flexibility. If your wrists hurt try the j-bends for the comfort. I haven't had any issues, so I stick with s-bends (Felt calls them f-bends...).
