From what I have read, they really are pretty comparable.  Look on Silk's website.  They have all kinds of info on there.

I think, and this is just from the limited amount of what I've read, that almond milk would be a better option.  Better fat sources if I recall correctly.

x2 on the almond milk, more nutrients than soy milk.  I also use rice milk as well.

I think it's a wash as far as which is better.

I am lactose intolerant and I like the soy better, the almond was a little too thick for me. My favorite is the "very vanilla" soy milk. One note though, it CANNOT be substituted for regular milk in savory dishes. Chicken ala  very vanilla king is flat out awful.

I'm not sure where that article got its information from, but every carton of almond milk that I've checked out at the grocery stores in my area...only has 1 gram of protein per serving, and NOT 4 as the article stated.  I like almond milk, but when it comes to protein (for recovery)...regular skim milk (I use a lactose-free brand) easily wins out.   I can't speak for Soy milk, since I don't consume soy due to the fact that I take thyroid meds.

Not really sure if soy is any healthier than cow milk. I use rice milk, usually hard to find an almond milk that isn't homemade that doesn't have carageenan in it.

I must say that I LOVE soy milk. Even the unsweetened is great. The chocolate is the best, of course.

I tried it on a whim a few years ago then switched totally to it. I don't drink it solely now, because I'm the only one in the family who drinks it, so it's more from a financial perspective. However, I always have a small carton in the fridge and a chocolate one either in the fridge or the pantry.

But practically no protein when compared to regular or soy milk.  And since the OP is asking about a recovery drink specifically the carb:protein ratio is about the same from regular to soy.  Course you could add some protein poweder to your almond milk but that's probably make the protein ratio to high

I drink soy milk rather than almond milk, rice milk, hemp milk b/c soy milk's protein value is comparable to cow's milk. And although I like chocolate soy milk, I feel like it has a bit too much sugar for me so I usually buy 1 carton of choco and 1 of original soy milk and half/half it in a glass -- perfection!!

It will depend on the brand and whether you drink sweetened or unsweetened.  BTW - milk is high in naturally occurring sugars.  I'd first focus on refined added sugars (like the ones used to sweeten soy/almond/coconut milks).
