So this weekend I was in NJ visiting some family for fathers day weekend and had brought some running clothes for what I thought was a planned small run on saturday morning (2-3miles). Turns out that my girlfriend and her mother had planned on running a 10k that day and told me I should join them. I have only recorded a run of 4.5miles as my longest run to date and I was worried that I couldnt complete the run. I did have a 10K planned for later in the season but figured the opportunity presented itself so WTF not lol. The race for some reason started at 11am and was brutally hot. Also, very hilly and I mean hilly!! I was able to finish the race in 1:12:03 and was stoked! Best part was that not only did I finish under my goal time (1:15:00) but I beat my girlfriend and her mother, both of who are better runners then me. Looking forward to more running and trying this distance again come October.

Dude that rocks. Apparently that day, they were not better runners. Not faster anyway. I ran the distance last week for the first time on a training run, and 1:12 would have been a miracle for me. Way to go!

Yes I agree, on that day they were not and I made sure to rub it in a little throughout the weekend Cool    It was definately a great mental boost for me but my legs are still hurting lol.

Pain is temporary. Pride (or gloating) is forever.

Awesome dude!  I kinda think 10k is the break over point between recreational jogger and a "real" runner.
