Ughh.. I woke up with a tummy ache.  I went running anyway.  I felt like I was going to vomit the entire way.   Frown

After yesterday's mock sprint, today is an off day. I need to take my new (for me) bike back to the LBS to have a new seat post put on. It broke while taking the bike out for the first time.

Oddly enough, I did not over indulge at the ball park last night. But the fireworks were great, as was the whole 4th of July.

I hope everyone had a great day yesterday, and an enjoyable week ahead as well!

I'm heading to the pool today.  After eating seafood all week when my son and his family were visiting I should be a better swimmer, right?

So I took off Friday-Monday.  Decided a 4:30am run was in store for me followed by a group ride of ~40miles this evening.  I missed training but made it a rest type weekend of food, drinks, and fun!

Mornin'!

Well, I ended up with 2 days off, not just one, as I planned.  Saturday was an SRD; Sunday, USRD.  I was involved with a blues festival all weekend which made it so I didn't get to bed until at least 1:30am each night.  I wanted to go on my group ride, which would mean getting up about 5:30am, but I realized--who the heck am I kidding.  That group usually has a "holiday ride" when there's a Monday holiday, but again, after 3 VERY late nights, yesterday morning I asked myself, "Who are you kidding," and slept in.  Instead, I went out for 35 mile ride in the middle of the day, for which I was well-rested, and it was good.

Well, the ride was good except for 2 things:  I neglected to use sun screen, and I got a little crispy; not too bad, but enough to realize it was a dumb move.  Second (and this really p!$$e$ me off) my front derailleur won't shift to the large chain ring.  Again.  That was just fixed 6 weeks ago.  And it was fixed numerous times before that!  The LBS guy tells me every time that the problem is that cable is stretching.  A cable continues to stretch, repeatedly, for over a year?  Really?  We're havin' a talk, him and me.  I told DW that it might just be a piece of cr*p bike (hint, hint), and she told me that may be, but I shouldn't have that kind of issue so often for so long.  We'll see what he says.

Oh yea--BBQ hangover:  Yea, a small one.  Went to a friend's house for BBQ, where there was grilled jerk chicken breasts, "white mud" hot cheese dip and DW's spicy cole slaw (Nummy!), among other things, visited, had a few cold ones and watched fireworks.  Nice night!

Tonight, a run, I'm thinkin' 5 miles.

Have a great day!

It took all my restraint to only eat one piece of strawberry shortcake at our neighborhood party.  It was calling me all night....

this morning I swam 1600m in the pool

I had that happen over christmas.  I think i gained 13 lbs. in 2 days.  It's the sodium and water weight so you'll be back to normal in a couple days.  You'd have to eat 35000 calories to gain a true 10 lbs. so I think it's a safe bet you didn't eat that much in the last couple days.

That's what I figure, but 10 lbs is a huge water gain bounce.

Yes and awful hangover from extremely weird life circumstances and lots to deal with to boot. But I still plan on getting an (indoor) cycle on later.

Actually did pretty well eating over the weekend and managed a 4000 yard swim this morning after taking yesterday as a rest day.  Weight this morning was 160.5 compared to 159.5 on Saturday morning before my ride.

I wasn't too bad this weekend, but my nutrition is never the best anyway... Quick brick this morning- 20 minute swim, 30 minute ride, 20 minute run.  Tapering for Ironman Muncie (70.3)... only 4 more days...

Going to swim with a masters swim team for the first time tonight.  Should be fun!  And by 'fun' I mean I hope they don't kill me :-)

Definitely, late night fireworks and to much BBQ made an easy swim workout tough today!

30k bike to work
6 X 800 meter intervals + some time in the hills lunch time run
27k bike home planned, but, I mean I got to get home so that probably will happen.
Maybe yoga tonight

Funny what an hour more in the sack will give you the energy for.

Had Bratwurst burgers, maybe shouldn't have had the second one but my 6.6 mile run today wasn't so bad.  It has mid to high 80's, I slept in didn't leave 'til 9:30.  Just ran a little slower.  I think summer is finally here.

Progress:  I just called the LBS, and the guy agreed that no, I shouldn't have these problems with my front derailleur that I'm having.  He'll see what he can do.  Hope he doesn't try to charge me!

16 mile bike ride.  The same course I did Saturday when I got dizzy and weak.  (only did 12 miles that day)  Felt great today!  I'm still not sure what happened Saturday (probably something about no fuel in the system).  I'm back on track!  Day 2 of 12 weeks to the Oly.

man today was hard.  worked yesterday and with the weekend travel to visit the fam and to other non-excercise related stuff had little time to workout.  forced myself back in the saddle this morning with a 2 mile run before work (don't know how you morning people do that every day) and followed up with a ride with the local roadies (18 miles)after work and managed to stay dry (a first).

Despite my BBQ hangover and my drive in and out to SLC early this AM, I managed to fit in a 1,000m swim once we all got to the pool!

Tomorrow, gotta get moving again!
