Subject: has anyone used the suunto t6?
I confess, I do love gadgets! Has anyone used the T6? Can you give me a little info on it? Is anyone aware of any other monitor/trainer that does this much? I love the fact that I can track my fitness progress as well as the basics. I am a little bummed that it doesnt have a cadence function for the bike. Would anyone like to give me the pros and cons of having cadence so I can make up my mind whether to get it and skip the cadence all together or reonsider. Thanks in advace! Kris

Does Suunto make a watch w/ a GPS or some shoe pod (i.e. Nike, Polar) speed system? I'm a proud user of Garmin 301.

ott, suunto has this new wrist computer that looks like it does it all. It is an HRM on steroids. it has a pod for both the foot and for the bike. according to the propaganda it can measure resp rate and extrapolate several other parameters from the R to R interval of the ECG. I have ben trying to make a decision on the T6 or the polar 625 with bike gear. I plan to keep looking at propaganda for the time being

I'm not sure about the Suunto HRM watches, but I own and swear by the Suunto Vector. The only tri-related stuff this watch does is track altitude / stop watch / and count down timer. The watch is indestructible though. Ive used it in the jungle, mountains and desert; it's been dead on accurate with whatever data I needed to call up on it.

check out the WriststopTrainers yahoo group...they are mostly T6 users and love it...but keep in mind it's GREAT for running, but it does NOT have cadence for cycling...which was a deal breaker for me.

also, the above mentioned yahoo group is a tad technical...but are happy to answer questions...

I just got a suunto T6 with foot pod and bike pod (havent ridden the bike yet).

Also have not had the time to calibrate the foot pod to the track...but..

So far so good...Relatively easy to use..easy to see. Hasnt dropped my HR. Distance accuracy pretty close to Map24 plotted distances (5.49 miles on map24 was 5.29 with foot pod). Has a light that allows me to see it at night (my polar s120 didnt).  Jury still out...Still not sure how they calculate out all the date (VQ, Ventilation, this EPOC concept). What is this yahoo group about?

In the meantime PM me if you have any more specific questions.

JT
