This is what I heard from racetri on facebook today (Friday 7/8), just wanted to pass the word....

"The city was uncertain as to an exact date but they "hoped" by next weekend that it would be open again. Check with Herriman City - their contact info is found at herriman.org Heath Thurston (SWIM PRO) will be doing an open water swim clinic at Black Ridge the week of the race ... more details to come "

I had planned for a swim out there with my brother today but he justed backed out. I guess i will bag it and go to the pool.

If anyone is interested in doing a swim out there today let me know.

I went swimming at Blackridge today.  It was packed! Probably 100 people but mostly they were chillin on the beach part.  There were about a dozen or so kids out on rafts and floaties in the middle. 

 The water was fine.  The only thing to watch out for is the "tumbleweeds" near the shores. I ran into 4 of them during my swim.  If you stay 30 yards or more from the shore you can probably avoid them.

The swim clinic with Heath Thurston was awesome.  There was a really good turnout, I'm guessing around 50+ people.  Heath gave about 40 minutes of instruction before we got in the water.  We swam around for a bit then Heath showed us some more technique and how fast he was.  Someone video taped the whole thing so if that was you let us know if you upload it somewhere. Thanks.
