Swim
Comments: Kept it EASY going out like I needed to. And by the end, I was feeling tired, so I'm happy with how I started. My swimming isn't where it was last year... What would you do differently?: Try to swim straighter. I ran into a lot of life guards. Transition 1
Comments: It was a long run in my bike shoes. And I was really dizzy in T1 from swimming - happens at most races. What would you do differently?: Not too much. Bike
Comments: Crashed shortly into the ride to avoid a woman on a mountain bike drifting farther and farther to the left - actually ran sideways into the LEFT curb because that's how far over she was. Then I rode pretty hard, but my computer wasn't working post-crash. Mapping it out afterwards, I hit Franklin in 20:13 (7.36 miles). That comes to 21.84 mph average at that point INCLUDING THE CRASH! I really thought I was going hard, and I was! Then the rest I did in 22:43 (used mapmyrun to figure the ride was 15.34, so that was 7.98 miles in 22:43, or 21.08 mph). It got harder to go "hard" later in the ride, but it was a nice distance with my current level of training. Wasn't passed much at all!! One guy (50+) passed me a few miles in, but I think I passed him back before Franklin. I THINK that was the only person to pass me. Being in the sprint, there were more "newbies" out there, so my average cycling skill seemed pretty amazing comparatively! ;) (Official results had me at 20.9 average) What would you do differently?: Not crash 300 meters into the ride. But the crash made me REALLY push the pace early on, so I guess that's how the crashed HELPED. Transition 2
Comments: Grabbed a swig of Gu Brew from my transition bottle, and that slowed me up a second. It was probably worth it though. What would you do differently?: Nothing. It was slow, but fine. Run
Comments: I was hoping to be about this speed on the best possible day (with my current training - otherwise I would have hoped to have gone sub-18. I passed hundreds of people, and didn't get passed once. Ran splits of 6:14, 5:55, and 6:02. What would you do differently?: I think I went out a little too easy. Should have started off harder. It would have hurt more, and I would have had to have "held on," but I think I could have done it. Post race
Warm down: Nothing. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lowered intensity of training since Henry was born. Last updated: 2011-07-01 12:00 AM

Ate 2 Powerbars and a banana (transition closed at 6:45 and I didn't start until around 8:45). Had a Rotane about 20-30 minutes before starting.
Did some swimming early on to see if my new goggles would be OK.
