Total Time = 1h 19m 33s
Overall Rank = 42/104
Age Group = female 30-34
Age Group Rank = 4/8
Pre-race routine:

I only had 3 hours of sleep! Got up fine, made coffee, drank protein shake, and left to meet Sue. Rode up to the race with Sue. Got our stuff, set up transition, then just hung out.
Event warmup:

None.
Swim
  • 09m 14s
  • 440 meters
  • 02m 06s / 100 meters
Comments:

There was a current that they warned us about, so I did more sighting on the way in than usual.
What would you do differently?:

Not sight so much on the way in.
Transition 1
  • 00m 50s
Comments:

No socks today, so things went quickly. This is a small race, so I only had 2-3 bikes on my rack!
Bike
  • 44m 26s
  • 15 miles
  • 20.26 mile/hr
Comments:

What a fun ride. I love picking off the guys one by one...Just stayed aero and went for it.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 2
  • 00m 59s
Comments:

No socks, so this was quick.
Run
  • 24m 4s
  • 3 miles
  • 08m 01s  min/mile
Comments:

Woohoo! I had an amazing run! What a feeling! Never felt tired, just felt like I was FLYING! What a rush..I was discussing this with my friend and she asked if I had recently lost weight. I have lost 5 pounds in the last few weeks, maybe that has something to do with it. Also I was well rested - had an easy week.I have NEVER run anywhere NEAR this fast before -I think my best pace over 3 miles before today was 8:22!! Holy cow!

What would you do differently?:

Nothing -I was grinning the whole time and just loved it.
Post race
Warm down:

Ran a 2 mile cool down with my friend Beth -the girl I met at St. Anthony's that loaned me her goggles. We had a great chat. I hadn't seen her in a few months.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

3 hours sleep?

Event comments:

I love this course! It is a small race, but the competition is very tough. I got 7th girl overall but still only 4th in my AG.
After the race, Sue dropped me off at the trailhead and I rode my bike 38 miles back to my car. Had a tailwind the whole way and managed an 18.5 average.

Congrats again on a fantatstic race   You must be really happy with the run time   You are crazy riding home but I am glad you made it home safe.  I am really glad you didn't do your long run on Saturday.  I bet that helped you on Sunday.  Take care and have a good day

Wow! Another blazing bike performance, followed by a killer run.

And you just raced last weekend too.  You're a racing fool, but ride that peak for all it's worth, you're putting an awsome cap on the season here.

Kick butt.

WTG WT! Nice run after a smoking bike. You're getting seriously fast. I can't believe how competitive your AG is in that area.

Fantastic race!  This is the time of season when all the hard training starts to pay off and it sounds like that's what happened on the run...doesn't it feelt great to finish strong!?!?

I was getting used to your smoking bike splits but then you add a flying run? And to top it off you ride 38 miles after the race at 18.5 mph? Now you are just showing off! (the voice of a jealous man)

Great race. Congrats. Remember us little people when you are a sponsored elite on the podium next year.

Very, very impressive race.  I was impressed when I saw your bike split, then doubly impressed when I saw the run split.  Well done.
