Not what you think

I finally got rid of it.  It was white with a red M Dot and lately it had just started peeling away at the edges and looked like cr@p, so I dumped it.

Now no one behind me knows of my glorious past anymore......  I have to admit, that when I'd wear my IMAZ finisher's sweatshirt, and get ot of my car, I'd look at the sticker and think "uh oh, am I that guy????"

Hey! I resemble that remark!

My Jeep is festooned with stickers, including an M-Dot, sponsors, my coaches company, All American USAT sticker, even a one of Yoda saying,"The Force will be with you, always". It's a '99 Wrangler and fun to put crap on.

I feel a little guilty with still having the IMLP sticker on my car since I did it back in 2009, but maybe I'll give it another year or two before removing it.

My IM sticker is peeling off the back of our vehicle. We have a new RAV4 on order that is being made in Japan so taking longer than expected. Not sure if I'll put a new one on the new car.

Seeing the 140.6 sticker gives me mixed feelings...sad that I doubt I'll be able to do another due to injury issues and bit pride that I finished 3 of them.

That wouldn't have happened if you got the tattoo.

lot of opinions on this one out there.  I put it on my car as well - like the day I got home. I was pretty stoked about the whole deal.  Not there to impress but to say to those who care I did it.  However, the thing that pissed me off about stickers was when I searched the web for a 3.1 sticker to surprise my wife when she finished her first 5k this winter (doing the bt 5k program 7 month) so many negative opinions.  I expect the elite up turned nose from the road cyclist.  I get it all the time when I offer a hello or a wave on the road and they act like they are too busy training to be A. Contrador's next team member and keep on pedaling w/o a gesture.  However, i was shocked at the I am better than a 5k attitude from some tri sites.  I think it is amazing that some above average age groupers forget how much better many people are than they will ever hope to be.  I doubt too many of the upturned noses will qualify for badwater, run a 2.10 marathon or plan to do 6gap in sub 5 hours (just saying).  I love the comment on the tattoo vs the sticker

keep a sticker on...or don't.  either way, you're the same person and you've accomplished what you've accomplished regardless of a sticker.

I still have my Ironman Finisher (wife bought it) and De Soto sticker on the bike rack    I am not averse to stickers, I actually like them (well, not political ones), when I get a new car and when/if i do another IM i'd get another one.  I have my chiro's/ART's guy's sticker (hey a little free advertising, maybe I get a deal) and a new Mammoth Mountain sticker

I just thought it interesting we always see threads about putting them on....  rarely about taking them off.  I am very proud of my IM finish, btw.  But the sticker just looked like a$$

This is why I got a magnet and not a sticker
I like the ability to move it's location or remove when I'm ready.

Sticker?  What sticker?  (my 4Runner has 320,000 miles on it so putting the stickers on it has been more for fun than vanity...and...there is a "USAT All American" sticker to the right of the IM stickers)

No, it's like that ratty t-shirt you still have that your significant other wants you to get rid of, but you don't.  It has emotional significance and you never know if you're going to be able to replace it so you keep it no matter what.  It's not too late for you to pull that sticker you pulled off out of the trash and stick back on to your car!

Funny--today I put my new USAT sticker on 'my' new car. I also tore the peeling 70.3 and Swim/Bike/Run stickers off of what is now my husband's car (my old one). I ALSO was sure to remind him that I want my USAT license plate frame on 'my' car.

For the record, I am planning on getting a new 70.3 (after all, I DID do another one this year) and *hopefully* a 140.6 in a couple months!

I removed my Mdot sticker from my car........and taped it to my left calf.  After I got back from registration I put it back on my car

Honestly, I only have the little round Mdot sticker on the car.  Didn't want to waste the cool stickers on a car that I'll only have while we're in Japan.  The bike case is an entirely different story.

I have one on the back of the car as well, but found out that unless you are involved in long distance triathlons - nobody knows what the m-dot means. My neighbour for example, who knows I am involved in aged care thought it was some kind of disability sticker allowing me to park in disabled parking spaces! She also knew I finished an IM here and her husband used to be a professional triathlete some years ago...

Stickers are for bike cases, not for cars.

But do people do the "jeep wave" or are they just too intimated by your stickers?

Psalm 140:6

I say to the LORD, “You are my God.”
Hear, LORD, my cry for mercy.

I guess the cry for mercy portion is relevant to IM.
