Subject: Lake Norman Triathlon Bike Course Question - Preview Ride

My wife and I are going to do another OWS at the Lake Norman Y and figured we might try to squeeze in a ride after.  I thought previewing the Lake Norman race course would be as good as any.  However, I'm not familiar with the area and wanted to see if anyone could advise on the safety of the route on a non-race day.  Course map link is below.  Any other suggestions for a 20-miler or so out of the Y would also be appreciated.  Thanks.

If I remember correctly, the roads for the course are pretty rural.  The only exception is the main road (115) but you aren't on that long at all.

Graboski is correct.  Most of the roads are pretty rural.  You do travel on Main Street in and out of the Y and past Davidson College which can get crowded but the speed limit is 25 mph so that's not much of an issue.  As you head out on Concord Road the speed picks up but usually the cars give enough room.

To follow up on this, this was a great course after the YMCA OWS.  I believe someone PM'ed me that I would probably see more bikes than cars -- that wasn't an exaggeration.
