Pre-race routine:

started with waking up very early for a two hour drive to the race site....ate a bagel and banana...bottle of water
Event warmup:

light run on the beach , stretch and tried to get my son ready for taking pics...lol he did a great job...

ok ride ...I could sure tell I had not been on the bike for three weeks due to work travels...back started hurting about mile 12
What would you do differently?:

ride more ...see if I can find a better position for my back....my medical staff says it is just screwed up but maybe we can find a good position....

Course: first 1.5 miles of the bike course (out and back).....flat and open ...was not too hot drank water at water stations...was picking up the past the last 1/2 mile or so ...back stopped cramping at that point...just like St. A after 2 1/2 miles the cramps stop and I can run.... did get to strint it in the last couple hundred yuards and out kicked a few guys to the line...that is always my favorite part....

GREAT race Mike    That swim sounds like a butt-kicker but you rocked it!  Keep working on the positioning on the bike, hopefully you can find a more comfortable one.

Nice to finally see a picture of ya!

Great job in the race!  Especially with being on travel for work for the weeks leading up to it.  Just think...next month you'll be doing the big 1/2 IM!

And as mentioned above, nice to finally put a face to the screen name.

Hey, what a great feeling to know that you're faster in the swim than you thought!  Good job overall...way to stick out the whole thing even though you couldn't train like you would've liked.
