So who all is going to be at the Ft. Collins Club tri this Sunday?  So far I know of a number of us that are going to be there and I know there others.  So far there is:

  1. Me (TriForrestTri)
  2. Rachelle (Mrs. TriForrestTri)
  3. Matt (Blackbud)
  4. Jen (numberswoman)
  5. Adam (TriGreenie)
  6. Yvonne (Mrs. TriGreenie)

I know I'm probably forgetting someone, so I apologize in advance, but I think it would be great to add to the BT contingent that we've already got so far.  As always, I'm down for a pre-race pasta dinner on Saturday night.

I'm going. I was GOING to race (all signed up, too) but am having knee surgery on Wednesday, instead. Sidelining this one is going to be torturous. But having done 1 tri already, most people already assuming I'm kind of a masochist.

Me!! Me!! Me!!

I'll be there doing a relay with my daughter Jessica - I tore a groin muscle in July - so I can't run - so she is only doing the run portion for me. Also my daughter JodiLynn (she is on BT as well) will be doing her first tri at this event. I'll have to check with her about the pasta meal on Saturday - so I'll get back to you on that - She actually is living in Fort Collins right now so we will be bunking with her.

So....question for you veterens - I found a picture of the pool: http://www.fortnet.org/FAST/facility.shtml - I know this is 18 lengths - for 450 meters...but as I look at those pictures I don't see enough lanes - or do you go out and back in the same lane, and then duck under? Could someone clue me in on how this swim works? I'm just wondering since it can be made into a 50 yard pool, why they don't just do that?

Hmmm. I don't remember all that stuff on the walls, but that wasn't really my focus then either. Basically, they set up the pool with 18, 25-yard lanes. There's also a small area down at the end near the start, about 4 lane widths or so, to jump in and warm up.  Anyway, as everyone lines up according to race number (you'll get it at registration pick-up), you'll hop in the water 2 or 3 at a time, whoever's in front (by number still) will duck under the lane, he'll confirm your name/number, count down and you're off. Swim down the 25 yards, touch the wall, duck under the rope and come back down in the next lane. Just keep moving over lane by lane until you've done it 18 times! It's really pretty easy. In the start, as one person takes off, another will get in the water. There's a ladder at the water exit that feeds you right to the door. Once you go through the door you're in the transition area, and more importanly, just glad that the swim part is over!

Me ME ME! I contacted the race director and sent him all my info over e-mail to process my entry, so I don't have to register in person on Saturday. Ryan is being nice and is picking up my packet for me.

See you Sunday!

As you know, I"m still down here in Baton Rouge, volunteering.  I am really thinking of y'all (Just a little LA rubbin' off on me!) and will miss being there with you.  I am a bit bummed as tomorrow approaches, but compared to what I am seeing down here, I have a good life.  Swim, bike, and run extra hard for me!

I am torn but right now it's 9:51 and I'm having serious thoughts about NOT going. Can I stand the torture of sidelining it while driving 45 miles? Honestly don't know if I can justify it. Of course I really want to support you folks, too. :::sigh::: Tough choices.
