Subject: Best Tri shorts regarding padding???
Hello to all!!!  I'm looking for anyone who has feedback regarding tri shorts.  I am looking for a good pair that especially has good padding for the bike ride.  I'm 48yo, 6'0" tall and 247lbs (most of that weight being used to shield my 6-pack abs from prying eyes, lol).  I've basically gone from the couch to attempting to complete the NYC Triathlon next month.  I've all sorts of concerns, but for now I'm looking to solve this one issue.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks and good luck to all in your endeavors!!!

Being a large Clyde myself (6'4" 275lbs) I use 2XU shorts. They make an actual xxl which is a 44 inch waste and the chamis padding is great yet easy when your running. Sometimes I just use them for my long runs. But they are the best I have found on the bike. Hope this helps.

I did my first tri last year and went with a pair of tri shorts from aerotech designs good price and a great feel.  I use them as my backup biking shorts now.

@kerrdog79 Do you know which version of the Aerotech shorts you have? @macfights Ditto regarding your Desoto and Pearl Izumis. Thank you both for your posts...

I have the black ones near the bottom SM617BK I got these because of the drawstring.  Last thing I want is my shorts falling down and showing off my plumber crack.

Lol, good one.  Thanks for the info, I'll check them out.  Took a peek at your blog.  Hang in there and keep up the good work.  Even though you hit a plateau, the fact that you're holding your own and not slipping backwards IS progress.  Nice job and congrats and the newest member of your family...

I use the PI elites and Desoto Carrera... If you want more padding, get the forza riviera...

Im currently riding and running in a pair of TYR they are nice. I feel like the pad could be a little thicker but once you have some saddle time in them they are fine. They are great for running in. Im 6'0 255 and the draw string is close to being at the end  but  I can still tie it enough to keep them from sliding down on me.

I know I'm late to the party, but my favourite tri shorts are DeSoto's low rise shorts.  Either style, but for me, the low rise is the awesome, and the chamois is perfect.

I have 2XU, Zoot, aerotech, Desoto, and Oomph. By far my favorite shorts to bike and run in are the Oomph Lava shorts. The pad is a thin gel pad that keeps my butt comfortable on the bike without feeling like a wet diaper on the run. I even wear then for just runs they are so nice.

i am just skimming through. the issue is never gonna be comfort for a clydes. you think sitting on a flag pole at over 200lbs is gonna be helped by a thin layer of gel, synthetic, etc? You are sadly mistaken. the best thing is to just settle in with a pair and a saddle that hurts the least and get your taint broken in. more miles = more sore in the beginning but less sore as you move on. plain and simple, there is no way to be comfortable on a bike with a big booty. i know.
