So far it looks like we'll get hit with a cool down just in time for the race; 45-62*F. At least it won't be bitterly cold. Still, I'd rather see an extra 10 degrees in the morning, but I can probably get away with out buying a vest.

Anyone have any idea about the water temp?

And we're up to 83 participants. Anyone on the fence, it be nice to see 100 before registration closes.

Okay, looks like I'm in the Comfort Inn as well! I didn't realize it was important to my wife to go ahead and stay Friday and Saturday night to reduce stress, but that works for me. My legs usually cramp up on the long ride home so this will be a nice change.

My wife just informed me that we'll be at the Comfort Inn Friday and Saturday night as well. Sounds like a hotel name change is in order. Any suggestions? Maybe the Cold Water Inn.

Anyone else look at the weather forecast today.  Yikes!  Let's hope it changes - cold, possible rain, wind.  What's the drag coefficient on a fleece jacket Smile?

Water temperature should be posted on our site tomorrow - almost at 100 people now. Should be a good day to race!

Shove a zip lock bag under your top, drop at aid station when no longer needed.

The weather forecast keeps getting worse. On the bright side the temp will be fairly constant through out the race. 47-52*F, 60% chance of rain.

Maybe this will slow everyone down to my pace.

I'm getting so nervous and excited!  I almost talked myself out of attempting the half, but read this article from several years ago and it gave me the push I needed!

I've crossed over excited and nervous well into obsessive. Probably not great for my productivity. Innocent I can't seem to find the water temp in Washington, but costal temps for the Pamlico Sound are 66-67.

Has anyone gotten an email from FS? I'm sure everything we need to know will be in the packet, I'm just used to getting an email by now.

Mark, I would guess the water is going to be cold but if you have a wetsuit you will be fine. Looks like it may be cold and drizzly for you guys- stay warm and race hard. Personally I prefer cold and drizzly over hot and humid any day :-) Good luck!

Roxanne:

It is going to be a blast and it will be over before we know it! I am really looking forward to this Half and the small field is a plus to me. Knowing many of the people racing it will almost be like an end of season reunion. Brent, Marc and Jason of FSseries put on a great race and I have every reason to believe that this will be another one. See you saturday!

Doug

I totally forgot to go to packet pickup this evening. Shoot. I'm taking off work early at 3pm so, hopefully I can make it to the packet pickup onsite Friday evening. If not, it will be race morning!

I did get the email, but didn't see the water temp. Last year I believe it was 63. I broke down and bought a neoprene cap! Need to get packing! So hard to know what to wear on cold windy bike

My email is [email protected]

Still obsessing... Anyone find a parking map? The packet says there is one, the race maps claim to have it but I don't see it, and google is letting me down on finding Haven's Garden Park or marking a boat ramp.

I'm all packed. Trying not to check the weather anymore and figure it won't be freezing, bt the water will be warmer than the air. Tomorrow at this time I'll be rocking along on the bike with arm warmers probably being my only extra gear.

It will be fun to start all in the same wave (although I was counting on having a head start on at least Carol)!

I found the park over a bridge to the west. For some reason I was looking north mostly. My coworker thinks I'm crazy scanning satelite view for a boat ramp and park. She might be right.

All the BT'ers at Washington:  great work in less than ideal conditions!  It was nice seeing a bunch of you.

BTW, I spoke with one of the FS Series guys afterwards and next year they are moving this race to July and having it on the same weekend as the Washington Sprint and OLY.  After today's weather, I applaud the decision.

This was my first 70.3.  Mother Nature made it a little rough but I loved it!!!  I think I am now addicted to this distance. I had no time expectations... I just wanted to finish well and enjoy the challenge...  It was INCREDIBLE!!!!
