Total Time = 1h 12m 1s
Overall Rank = 135/374
Age Group = M F
Age Group Rank = 20/47
Pre-race routine:

Pasts at 6am like normal, gell 15mins before start, but had lost my water bottle
Swim
  • 14m 24s
  • 750 meters
  • 01m 55s / 100 meters
Comments:

Took a long time to settle, and ended up pacing of someone going slower than I should have been. I sighted far too often, and not very efficiently
What would you do differently?:

Go out much harder, have confidence that I do swim in a straight line.
Transition 1
  • 02m 30s
Comments:

long slippery run from the lake to transition (which I fell over on), and an even longer run from transition to the bike mount line
What would you do differently?:

stay upright! If I had proper tri shoes could have run faster to the bike mount line
Bike
  • 29m 19s
  • 20 kms
  • 40.93 km/hr
Comments:

the gel was coming back to haunt me, couldn't take on any drink during the ride. Had good pace for most of the ride. Picked up my pace with the tailwind to 50km/h for most of the inbound 5km. The route was 18.5km
What would you do differently?:

Start pushing for home earlier, I was cruising at 40km/h and should really have picked up my pace earlier
Transition 2
  • 01m 13s
Comments:

Finally I managed to get off my bike without losing my shoes, and get my trainers on with out destroying the insole
Run
  • 24m 5s
  • 5 kms
  • 04m 49s  min/km
Comments:

Gel came back to haunt me big time. Had horrible cramps in my stomach for the entire run to the extent that it hurt every time my foot hit the ground.
What would you do differently?:

sort out my pre race nutrition properly
Post race
Warm down:

Tried to take on some fluids to help uncramp my stomach, wandered around swearing at myself a lot until they opened transition for reclaiming bikes

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Stuffing up my nutrition was the main problem. ALso need more experience in crowded lake swims as it took me a long time to settle down.
