Lake Geneva Extreme Sports
75F / 24C
Sunny
Total Time = 1h 31m 53s
Overall Rank = 124/474
Age Group = 20-24
Age Group Rank = 12/21
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:00am, packed everything in under 3 min. Had an apple on the way.
Event warmup:

None, I think swimming is enough of a warm up for everything else.
Swim
  • 08m 35s
  • 800 meters
  • 04s / 100 meters
Comments:

My first good swim. Only sighted like 4 times, I just followed some guys feet in front of me. Great drafting. Clear water was awesome.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, I took it easy so that I was fresh when I came out.
Transition 1
  • 02m 58s
Comments:

Transition area were easily congested so there were many people to get around on my way in and out. They didn't have a little kiddies pool to get sand off my feet, apparently they expect everyone to bring their own tub of water in...what a pain...
What would you do differently?:

Be quicker, took a while getting sand off my feet, rolled on my back too becuase I got off balanced, so then I was all dirty...
Bike
  • 52m 35s
  • 16.5 miles
  • 18.83 mile/hr
Comments:

Rolling hills and a big downhill towards the end which rocked, I got going like 35+, but then noticed my water bottle was falling out! At that speed I had one hand on the bar and one near my feet trying to get that damn bottle...and I did...without bailing!!
What would you do differently?:

My goal was ave 19 mph, I thought I was going to be near 20 mph... So I guess I would train more...
Transition 2
  • 01m 31s
Comments:

Transition enterence was congested... it was so narrow and I came in behind a big group of slow dismounters...
What would you do differently?:

Nothing I could really do...
Run
  • 26m 26s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

About .5 mile into it I thought I was going to have to head back to the start line to take a mean duece, but it managed to subside - very lucky...

8:30 min miles on that course!?! I'll take it, that run sucked. I feel bad for the Oly's who had to run it twice. Haha!
What would you do differently?:

Train on hills but we don't really have any hills around here...
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched...walked around, ate some oranges and drank some gatorade.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Biking hard and running slow...

Event comments:

Registration sucked. They had one line for both pre-registerers and registerers(sp?). It makes no sense to pre-register if you have to sit in the same line as same day registerers...
