Narragansett, Rhode Island
United States
Firm Racing
Sunny
Total Time = 5h 51m 34s
Overall Rank = 345/634
Age Group = F 25-29
Age Group Rank = 11/18
Pre-race routine:

Had pre-race meal, packed car, went to race site. Set up transition area, got bodymarked and chatted with a few other BTers who were there.
Event warmup:

walked about 1 mile down to swim start and swam 20-30 yards to warm up.
Swim
  • 30m 13s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 26s / 100 yards
Comments:

Great swim. Felt fast. Only problem was it was difficult to sight off the buoys and probably went a little too far out to sea (i pulled a hudnick. Hahaha!!!)
What would you do differently?:

nothing. thought there would be more bouys and easier to sight off of but that isn't something I can change.
Transition 1
  • 03m 47s
Comments:

Thought I hit the lap button on my watch but it didn't go so my T1 time is an estimate. Glad I had a little chair with all the sand on my feet.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 3h 02m 19s
  • 56 miles
  • 18.43 mile/hr
Comments:

Most of the road was smooth but there were sections that were rough. This was the only place during the race that my hip was bothering me especially on the return.
Nutrition: I was especially thirsty after ocean swim and ran out of water right before the first aid station but still had my drink of Power Bar Endurance. Ended up drinking 64oz H2O,32oz powerbar endurance, 12oz endurance with protein. Had one shot of 2oz Gu and 2 endurolytes.
What would you do differently?:

nothing.
Transition 2
  • 02m 15s
Comments:

didn't take feet out and was moving slow with bike purposely. Grabbed a bar because I was hungry but never ate it.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 2h 13m 1s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 10m 09s  min/mile
Comments:

could have pushed a little harder but was afraid that my hip would flare up. Drank 2-7oz bottles H2O and 2-7oz Endurance, also had 2 pretzel sticks and a couple oz of gatorade at one aid station. Poured H2O over me at almost every aid station to keep cool.
What would you do differently?:

run harder
Post race
Warm down:

finished, saw Hudnick, gave the high-five on a sub-6, drank fluids 20oz or so, sat, relaxed, made a couple phone calls, stretched, showered and changed, ate and got a massage.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Afraid of injuring hip again.

Event comments:

Really enjoyed this race. I liked the pre-race talk but thought that photography was limited. Volunteers were great and very encouraging. Would do again.

Great Race....you are fast women!!

Sounds like your race went just as you planned. Smart to protect and pace yourself in regards to your hip.

You are a great triathlete!!

Stacey,

It was great to see you and dave before the race. It was also nice to see you on the run at mile 7 or so I am not sure you heard me but I was yelling your name! I agree with you the race was great and next season should be fun for all of us.

Well done, Stacey. You looked strong every time I saw you--didn't look like the hip was bothering you at all. And CONGRATS on the sub-6!
