Subject: Issue with 3T Mistral Base Bar

I just received my Mistral from Trisports.

Couple of things.

First, the bag that the bar and all the bolts come in was taped shut.  Like it's been opened before.

Second, I can't get the second screw to the elbow pads to 'grab' the threads.  What's strange is that it's the same on both sides of the bar.  One screw tightens fine, the other won't even go in.

Do you think it's possible I was given a return product from Trisports or maybe a defective one?

What SUCKS is that I need this bar for tomorrow.  I can get the elbow pads to fit in the other holes fine, but it's not the best fit. Good enough for now.

I emailed Trisports yesterday, but haven't heard anything yet.

first, did you check to make sure you got ALL the little black "dot" out of the hole?

Mine went in with just a little work.. seemed like the elbow pad cups did not line up exactly right though, could that be it?

There was nothing in the hole.  All those black dots are accounted for.  I tried to push hard thinking it was just a tough catch, but the others went in smoothly.

Separate note:  did you run full cable housing from brakes and shifters.  Mine came with some clear tubing as if I just run a cable through the housing.  My Bayonet bar (Felt) had nothing like that so not sure.

that clear tubing is just to make it easier to route your cables and housing... you should remove it before riding. (but not until you've ran some wire/fishing line through it... internal routing through those bars is a PITA without it.)

Not sure about the other problem then. You can't screw into the hole at all? Or there are no threads to hold it in place?

Thanks for info on the tubing.

I tried pushing harder to see if it grabbed, it started too thread in, but then just stopped threading in.  I could pull the screw right out.

Another reason I'm thinking I got a returned product is because of the 3T logo.  My bar says 'Pro Mistral' all in a line.  The 3T website shows the word 'pro' above Mistral. Trisports said it was a 2011 Mistral, so not sure which logo is the actual 2011.

Mine (either an 09 or 10) is in two lines.

But if you can't get it to work I would certainly ask for an exchange from Trisports. It should definitely thread in.
