I love the coverage where the 100 meters takes up more time than the 10,000 meters.

Heh. This is one of the main reasons why I watch very little T&F on tv.

Which is the whole reason they went to the current false start rule.

gerald12 - 2011-08-29 4:20 PM Can you imagine false starting the decathlon 1500!
The multi-events do not follow the same false-start rules. This is the question I keep coming back to. In the old rule (one charged to the field, then a DQ) in almost every single race there was gamesmanship and someone would jump the gun. Everyone knew it was coming. So after that it was still one-and-done, so how is that much different?

In multi-events you get one freebie (the whole field) before you are DQed (on the second offense) unlike the one and out in single events. So it can still happen.

Because of the time difference and work schedule, haven't got to see the finals.

but hooray for the USA for getting back into the mens high jump and women 1500.  I hope Mary Decker Slaney is smiling somewhere.

Ask all the swimmers at the Olympics who false start once.  Too bad for them.  Too bad they spent $2k to get there.  That's why my coach made us swim 200m butterfly for every false start.

Before, swimmers used to have one false start by anyone.  Whoever falst started after would be eliminated.

I used to think the multiple false start rule was rediculous in T&F.

I was suprised that South Africa did not let Oscar P. lead off in the 4 x 400 relay.

dodgersmom - 2011-09-02 7:27 PM Completely awesome 4x400 relay!

Lashawn Merrit did a stutter step around the SA runner and went wide.   Than he shifted gears and went faster....thrilling!

There are so many politics involved in this decision it really is hard to believe. I have mixed feelings about him but since he is there and ran the prelims I think he absolutely should have run the finals.

That's what Dwight stones and Paul sunderland were saying.....SA sounds like a mess up athletic organization....

And tonight I'm watching the 50k walk...they walk their 50k faster than my marathon run....uck.

Haven't got to watch it yet.   But I think Jamaica has taken over the official Sprint title.

That happened a few years back for the men. Women not so much.
