Subject: On to the next epic event - suggestions?
My wife and I did the Chicago Oly this past weekend - truly an epic event.  So what can you suggest within a 4-5 hour drive from Indy that would be a great Oly distance race in 2012?  (yes, Muncie IM70.3 is gnawing the back of the brain.)  We'd still do the usual local Sprint races, but would like one travel race that is fun, scenic, etc.  And no, even though it was awesome, something on a little smaller scale than Chicago would be great!Wink

3 hours from Indy is Pokagon...clear lake swim, fairly brutal bike, trail run 10K.  Nice event - BUT COLD SWIM!  Of course all of the Muncie MultiSport events - but not 4 to 5 hours from Indy.

Deer Creek Fall Challenge in Ohio is a nice race.  It's just south of Columbus they have a sprint, olympic, and HIM.  HFP put's it on.  I have also heard the Great Illni race in Illinois is good.

Not sure about the size compared to Chicago, but I have always heard awesome things about the HY-VEE triathlon in Iowa. I think it is the championship for WTC's 5051 series - which means a lot of pros and a lot of sponser activities, etc.....

Its on my list of races I would like to do - maybe 2012 is the year

Triple T Ohio. HFP puts it on. Harder than an IM by far.

I did the Sept 3 Oly in Muncie (Muncie multisport). They seem to have one of these every month in season. The one I participated in was well organized, decent venue. This is a lot less than 4 hours from Indy (more like one hour, depending on where you are in Indy).

REv3 Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH.  I just did the 70.3 event on 9//11 and it was an incredible race/organization atmosphere.  They are really giving IM brand a run for their money in giving the Age Grouper a great experience.
