Okay.  We've got less than a week before IMWI.  Who do we have from around here that'll be headed over to Madison?  Any first-timers?  Veterans?

Jeremy, my husband, will be there doing his first IM. His number is 1612 and he will be wearing a TriRochester kit. I'll be wearing a TriRochester shirt and will be racing around somewhere trying to see and cheer for Jeremy and our other club members. We were out there this weekend to ride the course one last time. I can't believe it's almost here!

I'll be there, first time for me, #1028 with a gray with red trim Du Tri kit from St. Cloud.  My Dad (mjewen) and Mom and sister will be there running around wearing Du Tri shirts with Team Ewen on the back.  I'm hoping for around a 15 hour race.

Good luck to everyone doing the race.  We'll be out there volunteering - bike aid station in the morning and then we'll be doing some tailgaiting on one of the hills.  Free beer and brats to any racer who is interested

Good luck everyone! Remember...

1.  Try to stick to your plan, but be prepared to make adjustments on the fly.

2.  You are totally bada$$ just for attempting this.

3.  Smile for the camera at the finish line!

after doing my first HIM (or close enough distance for me) today; I know one thing for sure.

I will NEVER ever do a IM.  i might not even do a HIM again.

All the more power to those that do.  And good luck to them

Pete I imagined you killed the swim as usual. If you ever think about giving the HIM a shot again, I'd suggest Chisago. It was killer out there today and  that terrain is brutal. I hope you had some fun though! Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet, I should have suggested a BT get together pre race.

Still no results up yet, so no confirmation of splits. However I did do well in the swim so much so that it was obviously less than a mile total, by quite a bit of distance. I am not that fast. The rest of the day I fell victim to foolish pacing. I'll do a race report once the results are up.

Thanks for tracking us yesterday.  I had a pretty rough day out there with mechanical issues on the bike that just knocked me off my game.  Ended up struggling the entire ride and having a looooooong walk for a marathon.  Despite that I have learned you never knock an IM finish and I am very happy with the final otcome.  My 14:19 was 2:00 to 2:30 slower than I had expected but so be it.

Slow leak on a tire, or what?  Your run looked like a struggle but hey, you got it done.  Agreed.  Never knock an IM finish.

Major rubbing and squealing going on that I could never figure out. Had to stop 4 different times to get it handled. Thought it was the front brake, no. Thought it was the rear brake, no. Finally figured out the tire was rubbing on the rear cut out. Unfortunately was tough to fix because the set screw was bent and I had to pull the tire out and try to center it all while cranking down on the skewer. By the third stop I about had it managed. After that it was just a really long day.

I'm too late for IMWI '12. All sold out.

Guess I have to be a volunteer at IMWI to get a better chance getting in.

Why wait until next year?  You can always spring for a Community Fund slot and write the extra expense off as a tax deduction.  C'mon.  Do it do it do it. Tongue out

I was out there volunteering at a run aid station and got in for next year.  Seeing all those people out there racing their hearts out was exciting and inspiring.  I'm looking forward to the experience!
