Subject: Any advice to start training for a Mini?

I am 47 and my last child has left for college and I am ready to invest in Me! I ran track in College and did a few 5K's but it's been years. So I am excited about getting into this sport.  I live in the DFW area , any groups? Where do I start ?  I am definetely a beginner! Thanks for any tips!

Hi Bekah, welcome to BT and triathlon! And congrats on successfully raising your brood and kicking them out of the nest

For local resources, I'd post your intro and a question in the Texas forum ... on the Forums page, it's U.S. State Forums (bottom of the page).

That's great!  You've found BT, that's a good start to finding people, info and events in TX.

One bit of advice: Take it slow!  It's easy to be overzealous and overtrain to the point of injury.  Only increase time and/or distance by 5-10% per week.  Do that for 3 weeks and then do a recovery week at 40% less.  After that go back to where you left off and start over.
