Hello All, I just checked the website.  The power plant that usually warms the water temps is actually off secondary to the earthquake.  So they expect the water temps to be colder than normal.  Please plan accordingly (ie wet suits if needed).  Temps will be near 70.

Thanks for the heads up - I was wondering if the power plant was turned back on. Guess I'll be getting my wetsuit ready for one last race this season!

I was there last weekend and I can vouch the water is still very comfortable and warmish.

It was cool and overcast last weekend and I was way colder out of the water than in.

Major Ho, thanks for the good info, glad to hear it won't be freezing.

Has anyone done this swim before, choppy water, etc?

Didn't do it last year but the two years previous to that---not choppy but they are calling for some wind this weekend so you might get an inch or two of chop!!  Two years ago when they set out the course for the sprint they cut it a bit close to the land and some folks were just walking the middle of the swim!!

Looks like the swim waves are posted and more importantly---the BIKE COURSE is "changed".....well it's the same course but "backwards"---instead of right out of the marina it's a LEFT---so instead of crossing the water at the beginning of the bike you cross it just before the end of the bike....

76* water temp!!  Not bad considering the power plant isn't running...

I know my run was much faster than I thought it'd be. I think the cooler temps definitely helped!

The international conditions were perfect. The water was comfortable, and the run temps kept me from overheating for sure.

I can't wait to do this race again next year.
