I am getting sick.  Not nerves, I am actually catching something. My daughter and son went down with fevers on Tues. and Thurs. My wife had a fever yesterday.  I woke up this morning with a pretty good sore throat and head congestion.

Sunday is my "a" race an oly.  While doing a 4 month BT plan I might have missed 2or3 training sessions total. I know this isn't the end of the world but it looks like I will be racing with a cold or worse have to bail if I catch this fever my family has come down with.

Just frustrated and wanted to vent.  I really put a lot into this season.  I skipped what was supposed to be my last bike/run yesterday because I wasn't feeling great and am paranoid with every ache and pain I am getting.  Maybe it has to do with the tapering.

Hoping for the best. Maybe these  emoticons will helpUndecidedSealed

Sleep, sleep, and when you are done sleeping, sleep some more.  In between sleeping, drink water.  Then sleep.

Best of luck to you.

Rest, vitamins and hydration.

You CAN channel the energy that has been used for training into healing.  Your immune system is incredibly strong.  You WILL recover!

Hot Water

3-4 tbsp- Apple Cider Vinegar

3-4 tbsp -Lemon Juice

3-4 or to taste tbsp-Honey

1 tbsp or to taste-Sugar

It's not the best tasting but it calms that sore throat down. I x2 the sleep and drinking as much water as you can possibly stand.

I was in your shoes a couple of weeks ago for my "A" race....as all have mentioned, lots of rest and fluids.

What ever you do....get your butt to the start....everything will change once you are in the water and you are in race mode. All the trianing and effort to get yourself to the start will take over and by the time you are thru the swim, it will be nothing more than faded annoyance.

Rock it like you can......oh and have fun to.

Totally agree on rest and fluids.  Nothing much more to add.  Oh, and by fluids, I mean water.

Good to hear.  Staying positive instead of worrying about it probably paid off.

TONS AND TONS  of multivitamins.  About 4x daily dose.

And tons of sleep.

This usually helps me kick it in about 48 hrs

Glad to hear you made it!! Was going to add in addition to the sleep, sleep and sleep (true 'dat) to take a mild anti inflammatory (like ibuprofen) prophylactically. But am happy to see you didn't need it!

I tried to sleep, drank a ton of water, vit C, advil, and a probiotic.   Not what helped but it made me feel better that I was trying to do something.

Tried to stay positive but have to admit impending doom was the best I could do. Still had a cold by start time but don't think it affected performance much.
