I swear I read or heard somewhere that Speedplay Light Action pedals aren't suitable for heavier riders. If that is true how heavy is too heavy? I'm 6'1'' and 240lbs.

Has anyone else heard this? Or is one type of Speedplay better than the others for heavier riders?

I am 260, and bought speedplay Light Action pedals at around 270 (lbs).   It says in the warning that these pedals are not meant for racing.

I have never had a problem with the pedals, and I have never pulled my cleat out of them.  even when out of the saddle really chugging up a hill.
They do have a lot of "Float" to them though, I don't think you can really clamp your foot into one place like you can with the more expensive models.

I like them because they are simple. small and light, and you can clamp into either side of the pedal..

In the specs on their website, the titanium pedals have a weight limit of 185lbs.  The stainless and chrome do not have a weight restriction.  I thought about getting some, but at 225 and creating some significant power, my LBS directed me to stainless zeros.  slightly cheaper and I was told they would not bend like the light actions.
