Looking to purchase my first bike trainer now that the colder weather is within sight.  What type/brand would you recommend?  I really want to increase my bike fitness this winter so I am planning on putting alot of miles on it.

There's a Travel Trac thread going.  Performance Bike has there trainers on sale and the TT is a decent trainer.  If you want to spend more you can get a Kurt Kinetic or Cyclops fluid trainers.

Buy yourself a Fluid 2 trainer.  It's fantastic. VERY highly recommended.

Minoura RDA - rim drive, so you don't wear out tires. Very happy with mine.

Cycleops Fluid 2 for a start.  If you can save the pennies, I highly recommend a Computrainer.

Especially on the long days, Computrainer Real Course Videos are great.  BAsically you ride the actual videotaped course, and the traniner adjusts the tension.  If you are into #'s and such, the feedbac on Watts, AHR, etc.. is fantastic.  Downside is $$
