Also has much better camera/video and takes pictures faster than other phones. Also has Siri which looks awesome. I'm on a 3GS now, so I'll probably upgrade to the 4S. I don't think I want to wait until a 5 comes out. I'm going to get one. I have the 3GS and my phone is dying quickly. I can't make a call without it dropping and half the time I try to answer the phone I can't slide the little bar across the screen.

I'm not sure the camera and voice recognition (Siri) are huge technological advances, or competition killers, I think the competition will actually be quite happy with today's Apple announcements. Still, like I said, I'm going to get one on order as soon as I can, I like the apple products and compared to the BBerry I use, even the 3GS is an advance. On the Sprint front, I read they have invested $20 Billion to get to play in the iPhone market, yesterday the reports were the 4S would be available and Sprint with the huge investment would get the iPhone 5. Now it's 4S for everyone, no exclusive iPhone 5 for Sprint...big commitment with no exclusive option? |

It's just not there yet. I was going to convince my wife to upgrade her 3gs and I think for a 5 I could have got her to agree. For another 4, even if it's faster...I probably can't. I was a little disappointed no change in design, but next time maybe. Ios5, however, I'm pleasantly surprised. I was expecting the release to be much later. |

While I have been an Apple groupie for years, I never bought the Mobile Me and didn't realize I needed it until it was too late. I am desperate for iCloud so I can easily sync my iPad, iPhone and MacBook. As far as the new iPhone announcement goes, I'm impressed with the iPhone 4S. If I didn't already have an iPhone 4 I'd probably be getting the 4S. Actually, before my husband deploys in May I'm sure he'll upgrade just to have the worldwide roaming feature. Perhaps I'll have to upgrade as well just so I don't feel left out. |

So, no 4S for me in the near future. How do you check that? I have had my phone more than 2 years but I think during the almost 7 months I was deployed that contract is on hold. So, by the time I'd be eligible then it would be a few months after the 4S has been out and maybe by then there will be a 5? Though, this does seem like a pretty darn big upgrade...wonder why they didn't go with the 5 designation. |

I am no techie so someone please correct me where I am wrong. At least on verizon, the 4S is not 4G LTE, since it isn't supported by the LTE network. There's another form (?) of 4G on other carriers, I think Sprint, that is 4G, but it's not the same as 4G on Verizon. One of the pre release reviews I read noted the confusion that apple could call it 4G on sprint, bt not on verizon I am sure that makes sense As for the battery life, yeah, that's the only kicker, although tuwood (just) turned me on to an extended battery, he's getting 2 full days of use out of it Edited by ChrisM 2011-10-06 5:39 PM |
