Total Time = 2h 57m 34s
Overall Rank = 512/791
Age Group = F40-44
Age Group Rank = 12/28
Pre-race routine:

messed this up. I usually take my vitamins before heavy workouts/races, and totally forgot. Had some Powerbar ENdurance drink & a gel before the swim
Event warmup:

treading water, anxiety!!!
Swim
  • 37m 55s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 19s / 100 yards
Comments:

I heard from a few people the swim felt longer than what they advertised. Very crowded, did not seed myself well & therefore kept getting stuck in the middle of very slow swimmers.
What would you do differently?:

start all the way to the left, out from shore farther to get a clear path
Transition 1
  • 03m 37s
Comments:

could have gone faster, but I'm a dilly dallyer
What would you do differently?:

I need to practice transitions. but some of it is just trying to stay calm & not go out to the next event with my heart racing
Bike
  • 1h 22m
  • 23.61 miles
  • 17.28 mile/hr
Comments:

got slowed down due to cautiousness with toe overlap during turns. My T2 time is in the bike time, so I estimated a 2 minute transition, but my bike time was definitley faster than this.
What would you do differently?:

bike handling skills slowed my at least 2 minutes
Transition 2
  • 02m
What would you do differently?:

practice!!!
Run
  • 55m 21s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

I'm shocked. I felt like I was running 11 minute miles. Did not feel good at all in the run.
What would you do differently?:

train harder!!
Post race
Warm down:

oranges, talking with family

What limited your ability to perform faster:

training, experience

Event comments:

this was the race I watched last year to decide if I would start triathlons. This was my dream - the one I always (other than Kona) wanted to do. And a year later, I did it!!! And under 3 hours, which was my goal

Great job! This was my first OLY distance and broke 3 too (but I am a hell of a lot younger than you). I agree, the swim felt long, plus way too crowded. What a beautiful day for the race
