Looks like we might have a brown Christmas.

We might have a white one but there will be a lot of green poking through the dustings we are supposed to get.  Grass is showing completely right now - can't remember the last time it was like that this late.

Lenny will they still do the Birkie??

Looks like they are skiing up north in Birkie Land. There have been years that they had to cut it short or truck snow in. They still have a couple months before the race so they should get snow.

I haven't updated in a while. We're in So Cal for another week. Since our high today was 72, that means no points for me. But I don't mind. I'm loving the warmth.

Thanks Darren for the video. Wish I had some trails like that to run on!

Got out on my bike today. Winds were only cold when I had to head straight into them and my toes suffered. I also wore my lobster claw gloves but some cold was beginning to make my fingers ache by the time I finished. But the toes! Do you riders all wear booties/shoe covers? I wore mtb shoes with heavy wool socks (one pair).

Once the temps start diving below 45 or so I have a pair of Lake Winter boots that will carry me down to 0-10 range if I put the right socks on with them.  Lower than that I put my snowboots on and ride my platform pedaled bike.

You could look into Mountain Bike Shoe Covers to help out.  Some just put plastic bags over their socks but I would not like the moisture retention with that setup personally.

Thanks Bill. I gotta look into the toe covers. The bike I ride during the winter has both clip and platform pedals that flip around so I'll likely ride with big boots if I can't keep my toes warm.

No points for me today. An awful stomach bug hit the house over xmas and my turn was last night...alllllll night. I'm wiped out today.

Pretty quite in here. Hope all your holiday plans turned out great.  Anyone have any early new year races planned?  Nothing for me until late April early May.  Stay at it everyone we need all the motivation we can get these next few months.

Well I passed up over 900 points this morning and drove to work instead of commuting.  It was 16 degrees with 15-20 mph winds.  No precip though and I should have just done it but I have weakened after my victory last year - I am shedding tears as I type this

Have a great weekend everyone and a big early Happy New Year

Thanks Bill. Although I am just going to try and hold on to 3rd place for the rest of the year.

This morning I ordered a Salomon XA 20 pack with the accessory front pouch with two bottle holders and two utilities pouches. Also going to order two addition bottles for the front harness but they were outta stock. Been looking for a all around versatile pack that I can modify for all events and I think I found. Probably sell my camelbaks if this works out. Gotta love it!@!!

Yes I got most of it at Gearzone. And the two other bottles at Running Warehouse. They had 3 bottles and holders left and I bought 2. Originally I had been searching for a Salomon Raid Devil 25 which had a similiar configuration but it is impossible to find. This is almost an exact equivalent. I will easily be able to be self support for 40 miles running or more now. It all cost about $200.00. Alot cheaper than buyer a different pack or bottle holder for each environment. I hope it all works out.
