Subject: RE: training run for my upcoming mini indoor tri I think you are asking if you are "fast enough" or "good enough" for the tri. There will almost always be someone faster than you, and almost always be someone slower. The only exceptions to this is the First Place winner and DFL (Dead F. Last). The only time you need to be faster than is the cutoff times, and I doubt your indoor tri has those. You also would be ahead of the cutoff in Tri's I have been in IF you could maintain those paces for the full distance. Based on the times you posted for Swim and run you would be in the back of the pack (BOP) in most Tri's but not DFL. So am I. Just to give you a rough idea: A middle of the pack swimmer would do 50 Yards in around 1 minute. And run somewhere around 8-10 minute miles. You didn't say how you have been training, but I would swim much more than 50 yards at a time, and run several times a week. Depending on how far you can/have run you can set your distance. Just remember "Run lots, mostly easy, sometimes hard". Because of the indoor bike it is hard to say how you stack up there, but ride hard and have fun. Welcome to the start of your new addiction |
