Subject: Massive blow-out
So riding the bike on the trainer this AM, I experienced a massive blow-out complete with sparks. Anyone else had this happen? Any idea what caused it?

I inspected the tire and don't see any evidence of a cause.

Heat. Tire was weak and the heat from the trainer made it fail.

It was a Continental Brand - Trainer is a Mag Cyclops. Have used it for a few years. I have noticed some rubber tread around the floor lately after longer rides. Is it possible the tread needs replaced?

Purchased the Trainer Tire to carry me through the winter. Seems like I am $Learning$ something new about this sport every week!!!

As a father of children ages 3.5 and 1.5, the words "massive blowout" have a completely different connotation.  I seriously thought when I opened the thread that someone was going to tell a story about their bowel movements!
