Subject: pant / leg / bike clips for commuting?
I'm having a hard time finding those pant / leg / bike clips that go on your right ankle to keep your nice, creamy linen slacks out of the greasy, grimy chain on your commute bike so you don't look like a total dork when you show up for work, even though you might look like a total dork when you're actually wearing them. Any suggestions? My LBS isn't any help, so I'm looking online. The only thing I've found so far is on ebay and I don't know if it's what I want . . .

Will a rubber band work?

Yes, for a day, and then I'll lose it or it'll break. I want something that will last for years of bike commuting.

If you can't find a pant clip, then fold them a the hem around your ankle and slip your sock over it.  Or even better yet, roll your slacks up--so they won't get wrinkled--and put them in your backpack.  Wear cycling shorts on the bike ride and slip into your slacks when you get to work or wherever.

I change into my wok clothes at work (go figure!). Lately I just wear shorts, but for cooler weather, I'll wear cycling tights or Sugoi wind pants (they zip at the anlke and have velcro closures). You can get those velcro, reflecting ankle straps at Target or Walmart for lexx than $5.

i don't know how close you are to a military base, but they have "blousing" straps to help blouse your pants over your boots... those would work... maybe check a surplus store

but as said before, changing at work is easiest

Uniform blousing clips! Oh man that's brilliant. I'll look around.

For those of you advising me to wear bike pants and then change at work, yeah, thanks, but that doesn't quite work for me. It's maybe 5 minutes to work (downhill) and 10 minutes home (uphill). So it'd take me more time to change in and out of bike pants than it would take me to actually, you know, bike.

I've found a few reflective velcro straps on REI and other sources, and thanks all for those recommendations.. Those ebay spring steel jobbies are still the only actual clips I've found, though. Any more suggestions?
