Subject: Water bottles & Aerodynamics

This is a crosspost.  I originally posted this in Triathlon talk.

While researching a water-bottle system for my tri bike I stumbled across this article.  I found it very interesting.  It talks about how water bottles effect the aerodynamics of triathlon bikes in wind tunnel tests.  Read here: http://www.profile-design.com/road_test_press/water_bottles.html

The findings of this research showed that your bike becomes more aerodynamic with water bottles placed at certain locations on the bike.

Now, my question to this forum:  I have a Felt S22 and need a water transport system.  I'm looking at behind the seat models but I have an aero seatpost so the Profile Design style won't mount high.  It appears that I have to mount this style of carrier down by the seatpost collar. This bike only has one frame mount, which is on the seat-tube.  Are there any of you out there that have aero seatposts that have found a behind-the-seat bottle holder that works?

Those of you using aerobar mounted bottles, how do you like them.  I need details baby...details.

i have several models. 2 profile design and 1 xlab.

the profile design aero bottle that rests between your aerobars is great for long races or people that don't like grabbing bottles to get a drink. it's great for mixing sports drinks and water and reminding you to drink. it's also great to be able to stay aero while you drink. the draw back is that it can be messy/bulky and generally you will need to have cages as well so you can grab bottles at aid stationson the fly. i like it, but only use it in long races.

the profile design aero bottle behind the seat is ok. bottom line is that it works, but is annoying. it is heavy, the actual bottle holders can come loose and it is a pain to tighten, and it connects to the seatpost so may not work for you.

the xlab flatwing is awesome. it connects to the bars under oyur seat and uses standard cages that you buy separately. it also has accessories you can buy to hold tubes and co2 without a bag. works great, but is not cheap (once you add up all the parts):
