Pre-race routine:

Slept well after last nights race. Got up, had my oatmeal and coffee. Blogged BT. Got dressed, drove into town, parked at the Marina just before they closed the street. Picked up my package, drank some water, and visited the porta john.
Event warmup:

Stretched, jogged around the block. Took note of the number of runners who had run last night's race.
Run
  • 28m 46s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 15s  min/mile
Comments:

Started a little slower because a lot of stroller runners had gotten to the front. At my pace those things don't matter. Was actually able to pass a few folks. Was very surprised to learn I finished 2nd in AG. Took water at the turnaround and dumped a cup over my head. The breeze along the water was outstanding. It was cool that the bridge tender stood out on his platform and cheered us on as we ran over the bridge, both ways.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and drank some cold water. Talked with a lot of tourist. Cheered on the remaining runners as they came across the line.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Old age, short legs, bad lungs, fear of sudden cardiac arrest.

Event comments:

Won a shrimp boat trophy and a gift certificate to a restaurant. Sometimes it pays to just show up.

Back to back 5k's - fantastic! You pace seems to be consistent for each and you got a wardrobe update ...

Is this part of your plan for the beginning of the taper for the Hickory Knob race?
