Run
Comments: This was my first 10K and I loved it! My goal was to finish under 60 minutes, and did, by three seconds! The first five miles felt really good; by the 6th mile my hamstrings started to tighten up and I was ready to finish. I treated it as a training run, and practiced with my amphipod for the 1/2 marathon, drinking an ounce or so at every mile. I felt good at the end, but I know that I need to do more long runs in preparation for the 1/2 marathon! Last year I ran the 5K here and it was my first race of any kind ever. I ran it in just over 36 minutes and I was pretty tired. What a difference a year makes! What would you do differently?: Not much. I think I ran this as well as I could have at this time! Post race
Warm down: Spent some time with other BTers - Autumn, Jay, Ian, and Steve. It was great to have a support team! Had some snack and gatorade. Should have stretched. Kids both ran the 1K so I watched them run and wandered the activities area. What limited your ability to perform faster: I need to do MUCH MORE STRETCHING every day! I also need to incorporate more long runs and get onto my training schedule more seriously. After my last tri/du I haven't been quite so disciplined...I'm ready, though! Event comments: This will be an annual event for our family! Last updated: 2005-10-08 12:00 AM

It was nice to have a race close to home! Breakfast of 2 eggos & PB with some gatorade, and headed out with kids at about 7:30.
Mike ran the 5K first so my warm up was getting him settled and being there to cheer for him and congratulate him on his 28:10 finish (he's 9 - I need to watch out!). After he finished I ran to the car to stretch my legs a bit and get my new Amphipod belt for it's first use. Didn't stretch as much as I should have for the chilly weather.
