Hey Ron,

I was thinking...since so many people travel to races, does it make sense to have "Who's Racing" lumped in with the state forums?

I second this question.  It was much easier to check out 1 Who's Racing Forum than it is to try to scan all the states I might have an interest in and see if there are any new posts/threads.

THird the opinion.  What if the who's racing forum got sorted into states after the event has passed?  Is that too difficulty to do?

keep talking.  give me your ideas.

I feel we did need something like current setup for group training...adding in the whos racing kinda made sense to me so all is on place...but then i usually dont make much sense.

And this is only the first stage something much grander that we'll be working on end of the year.

How about we do something where we preserve the current state breakdowns BUT we can set states up into regions (like USAT region breakdown) where clicking on 'midwest' would pull posts from all the states associated with this???

Or something else....

Reading Ron's post gave me an idea, sort of an extension of his clickable regions. Would it be useful if each user could define custom regions to include whichever states they prefer? You could create a region as big or small as you like. You could even group states near where you live with a distant state where you may be visiting, if you wanted to look for races in both places. Or would that be too much trouble to set up?

How about this:
Recreate the Who's Racing forum but include a drop down box that's populated with all of the states/provinces/countries/planets etc listed in the Group Training forums.

When a user creates a new thread in Who's Racing, they select their region from the drop down (maybe it can default to their state from the upcoming enhancement), and when they Submit, the thread shows in Who's racing, and also in the Group Training forum in the region they selected.

What about a double entry system, where if you post to "who's racing", you must select the state, and then the post gets automatically displayed in the racing forum AND the state forum.

That way you can see the new stuff in one place (who's racing), and if you decide to continue to follow it, you can just click on the state forum as well.

I like them seperate. I race alot and it's much easier to keep track of race threads this way. When you lump them all together most of the races I follow get pushed off the front page. So I've used the current setup alot more than the old 'Who's Racing' forum.
i agree with aaron. its probably no coincidence that a state that is large and has lots of tri's could care less about other state's tris.

perhaps dividing them into regions would be more appropriate...

**edit** ah yes the regions idea has already been suggested. in that case i second that emotion.
