Subject: Bike LT TT on a spin bike??

To start the off season I am planning a 30:00 TT a la Mike Ricci's thread........   Figure I'll it the track for the run, but there's nowhere local I can find space for a 30 minute bike TT without lights, traffic, etc.

Is that something that can be done on a spin bike?  Well, I know it can, but will it suffice?

Well, this is a bit of a drive for you but out near Lake Piru, they have the Piru TT that's held on the first Sunday of every month. Here's a link to it: http://www.cvcbike.org/race/PiruTT.html

I have the same question, Chris.  Seems like it would work.  Anybody know for sure?

No, I don't know for sure, BUT, it seems like any activity that replicates the motions you are hoping to train (spin bike for cycling seems as close as it get) should work for your TT.  In friels book, he describes TTs for biking & running that are essentially identical.  I suppose if you needed a LT for knitting, you could do a 30 minute knitting TT as well and use that number for all future knitting workouts!

being a little tongue incheeck, but yes, that's the impression I get is that it should work for any sport as long as you keep your LT readings within that sport .  (i.e. don't use you r knitting threshold for cycling

But can I use my knitting threshold for drinking Sex on the Beach?  That's the important question

Yes, it will work absolutely fine... remember, you're trying to identify a heart rate that corresponds to your LT while using a certain set of muscles. Provided you're using essentially the same muscle groups, your results will be accurate enough.

Good luck!

If I don't knit now, how do I go about determining my knitting threshold???
