Hello

i am new to BeginnerTriathlon and new to the triathlon world. I have only a week of training under my belt and look forward to the future. I have registered for 2 short course triathlons as well as 2 - 150 mile bike rides. All of these events are coming up in June/July/August, 2006.

Any suggestions on training? I am utilizing the Michael Pate's Sprint Training Program.
Suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

Heather Lund

Hi there, and welcome!

I'm in NC now, but a very, very long time ago, I went to junior high in Blaine.  Sounds like you're well on your way with two sprints, two big bike rides and plenty of training time. Good for you!

Hang out around here when you can--lots of good advice and some insanity floating around.

Welcome. There's a pretty solid community of Minnesotans on here, so they can be a pretty good resource for you regarding which races are well organized and run. Unfortunately, I'm not one of them, so I'll just welcome you aboard.

Welcome Heather;
What tris are you entered in for next year? I didn't think there were any open yet. Apart from lifetime fitness. I'm up in Princeton and work in Plymouth.

Hello Streams180, it's great to hear that you are doing both races. Can you share with me your typical training. Since I am new to this, I thought I would get your input. Any suggestions?

Well this winter I will be sticking to a running plan just to stay in shape, and hitting the pool 2 times a week. I am doing this until it gets warm enough to get back outside on the bike. If you have an indoor trainer that would help with biking during the winter. So I would say during the winter focus on the swim and run. Than once its warm enough to swim outside you should at least try an open water swim just to get comfortable with it, I didnt do this for my first one and i kicked myself for it...well that is what i will be doing, if you have anymore questions let me know...

I did both the graniteman and the Baxter tri last year. They were my two least favourites I'm sorry to say.
